In today’s Beatles holiday music spotlight is “Everywhere It’s Christmas,” one of the Christmas “songs” that The Beatles came up with for their fan club holiday recordings. We had to sub out the original “long version” clip after Apple Corps Blue Meanies had it removed from YouTube. But since this shorter version of the song is a commercial for their own Beatles box set, we trust it’s safe. Today in 1967, The Beatles recorded their last fan club record as a group; ‘Christmas Time Is Here Again!’ The Beatles’ Christmas records were spoken and musical messages from the group that were posted out on flexi disc at Christmas time to members of their official fan-clubs in the United Kingdom and the United States.
The Beatles singing Christmas
I found Rubber Soul under the Christmas tree a couple of years before Sgt Pepper taught the band to play. Sgt Pepper blew my mind, but Rubber Soul had already permanently bent it. It was the first album I ever owned…and to me, the best. We all are attached to the music we heard on the radio in junior high, but not everyone can say that music came from from the first, and best rock band ever. Because I have seen The Beatles singing Christmas tree shirt. I consider myself so lucky to have been born at the perfect moment for a kid who needed to make music. Is it a coincidence that Sting, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, among others all have birthdays within a few months of mine? I think not.
Here CHRISTMAS coming
The Beatles hit us all just as we were hitting puberty. I owe my life to the Beatles, and in particular to Rubber Soul. “I once had a girl, or should I say she once had me?”… opening lines of songs don’t get much better than than that. Although, Richrath came close with, “Heard it from a friend who, heard it from a friend who, heard it from another you been messin’ around.” I miss Gary, and John…kc. Thanks for choosing The Beatles singing Christmas tree shirt.
