It is a privilege to have any animal as a pet because it means there is never going to be a question of choosing to eat. And keeping your best friend. It means you probably have money to spend or live somewhere where people could help you out with food bills, vet bills, grooming etc. Keeping any animal (especially if you don’t use them for sustenance) costs money. That makes it a luxury. You have all your basic necessities met and can now afford something nice. No, I’m not gonna pretend that put in a similar situation that I wouldn’t shoot and eat my puppy.
