“We have seen what we thought was unseeable. We have seen and taken a picture of a black hole,” Sheperd Doeleman, EHT Director and astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics said. Black holes are notoriously hard to see, and their gravity is so extreme that nothing – not even light – can escape across the boundary at a black hole’s edge. “We’ve been studying black holes for so long, sometimes it’s easy to forget that none of us have actually seen one.” France Cordova, director of the National Science Foundation said. I think this is so incredibly cool (and a bit scary!) What do you all think? Check out this NASA insignia EHT Black Hole 2019 shirt.

I’m leaning a bit more toward scary, but it’s definitely interesting! Always reminds me of how tiny and insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things. Just more proof of what an awesome God we have and that we’re just one little speck in his vast universe. Or just awesome what science allows us to behold. Incredible sight. Thanks to all the brilliant scientists that have worked to get us to the point of being able to see this. The earth is a speck of dust compared to this monster. If you liked this one, just wait until next week when they are expected to show us one from the inside looking out.
Just as an FYI: The Arabic word ” Konus ” can be translated ” sweeper or cleaner. It is the same word from which we derive what can be used in cleaning flats, i.e, the vacuum cleaner. The Holy Quran is more accurate when describing the black hole. in just three words the Holy Quran describes the black holes as follows: They are running and that what science says. NASA insignia EHT Black Hole 2019 shirt now available. They are receding away or veiled after being apparent and science says they were stars that receded or veiled as light can’t escape their gravitation. They suck or sweep any matter and that what science says about these stars.
Incredible first ever image of a black hole from a galaxy far, far away!
Great day of learning and sharing at the NASA RI Space Grant Consortium 2019 Symposium. Interesting conversations about the recent black hole image too. Curious about its size, check out this picture! Image courtesy: EHT Black Hole Image/Source NSF/https://m.xkcd.com/2135. You are looking at the first ever image of a black hole, captured by the Event Horizon Telescope Project. Within the dark spot is the black hole—a place so gravitationally dense nothing can escape from it, not even light. The orange halos surrounding the hole are hot gas emissions, swirling around it under the influence of the strong gravity near the event horizon—the point past which not even light can escape before falling into the void.
