Eat. Sleep. Go to clinicals. Take selfies. Freak out. Study for exams. Freak out. Slay. Repeat. All while running my online business and being a mom to my favorite 2 year old out there. Home from clinicals finally. Getting ready to eat some taco…..and then enjoy the night my men. And preparing to sleep in because I know we won’t be going to school in the morning. Let it SNOW!!!! I finally got to watch it the other night, it brings back memories alright. I go Monday to try and find out what I’m having. Hope it works this time.

Why can nurses sleep anytime they want? How come they can just sleep while in jeepneys, cars, trains or even airplanes at no certain time in a day? It’s because NURSES ARE MACHINES. Yes, you heard it right. We are machines. Whenever you press the power button ON, we automatically start our tasks without any hesitations. We become robots that need to perform our job perfectly. We are sometimes called USELESS especially whenever we eat, drink, rest, urinate, defecate during duty hours. Simply because we are ROBOTS.
If you call our names by shouting whenever you’re in pain or you need something like lending the TV remote control to you because it’s out of your reach (i.e. on the bedside table), we immediately attend to your NEEDS AND WANTS because we are robots controlled by the fact that our mother, FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE once said, “No man, not even a doctor, ever gives any other definition of what a nurse should be than this – ‘devoted and obedient’. This definition would do just as well for a porter. It might even do for a horse. It would not do for a policeman.” And, for the record, we always say in our Nurse’s Prayer that we are your “ANGELS IN THE SICK ROOM”.

We always put other’s needs first because it is our job. We studied everything in Nursing to give excellent and right care to our patients. We sometimes forget our needs just to see your needs are attended accordingly. But we don’t want you to feel pain, anger or despair. We want you to be alive, hopeful, complete and happy. We, the MODERN ROBOTS, want you, humans, to take care of your lives. Like any other robots, we sometimes reach the point of “wear and tear”. We get damn tired. We get drained. We forget that we have urine inside our bladder that should be eliminated purposely. We forget that our stomach releases acid that needs to digest our food.
