Do you like that Dolly Guts Grits and Lipstick shirt? Let’s start the day with some realness! Most of you know I like to do these unedited posts every now and then so you can zoom in and see the imperfection. I don’t ever want to be part of the issue of making people feel like they’re not good enough because I edit my face and/or body to hell and back. Lol. You can see some breakouts on my chest, the foundation mixture I tried out broke down and made my nose splotchy and accentuated my fine lines under my eyes, and this is the perfect angle for the shadows to catch my biggest wrinkle above my right eyebrow, thanks to two giant zits I had back in the day that left side-by-side indentions and turned into a wrinkle that you can feel even when I’m not raising my brow.

The point is, even makeup artists and models aren’t as “perfect” as some think. Every time someone comments with that gross word “perfect”, I cringe. No one is perfect, and that’s what makes us all beautiful and unique. Can I share something I find interesting? I actually prefer “imperfect” bodies when it comes to the types I’m attracted to. And that goes for both women and men. I like the softness of a fuller figure, the cute quirks of an uneven smile, sometimes I like when women have armpit hair, and when I’m doing makeup for someone, I enjoy working with textured skin from scars, acne, or fine lines. We are all beautiful creatures, regardless of what the media or negative people might tell us.
Today is international women’s day! The theme is balance for a better. In 2016, the DGWT announced that their events would be 1 division, 1 winner. I thought instead of boycotting the events, I would go out play with the men and try to inspire women. My goal was to inspire women to not be afraid to show up to league, the course, or play in a men’s division if there or no women playing. I encourage you not to let anyone put limitations on you because you’re a female. You can throw far, you can make long putts, you can have a side arm and a back hand! You can show emotion after a good shot or a bad shot! You can play with your hair curled and lipstick on and still kick the courses butt.

I know the theme is geared mostly towards the office and business. But disc golf is my job and I want to encourage women to go out and not let anyone put limitations on your abilities because of your gender! Thanks to everyone who supports myself and other touring female pros! It’s been exciting to watch the women’s fields grow as well as the media coverage and number of women touring full time! Thanks for representing us out there! I have been in a few tournaments as the only female. It’s not as fun when you have no competition, but showing up feels right. Have a nice day with Dolly Guts Grits and Lipstick shirt! Get it!
