Autism doesn’t come with a manual. It comes with a parent who never gives up. Except the parents that decide to murder their autistic kids out of “mercy,” or the ones that force their kids into ABA because they refuse to accept their child’s neuro diversity or try to listen to their needs. I just really want to stress. Having a kid who is autistic does not default you to be a great person. You have to work at it. And complaining about how “challenging” your kid is is not a great case for how heroic you supposedly are.

So true. Ya people I see the looks others give me when Shawn hums or claps and Ben is scripting, replaying a cartoon in public. My boys are beautiful and awesome. Ah man! That’s what I used to do when I was little; Scripting a cartoon. Ed Edd n Eddy was my favorite (still is, and I find it even funnier now).
Hums or claps. I see nothing wrong with that when not in public. True. It’s very challenging, yet rewarding once you connect with your child’s world and bring them gently to yours.
Sometimes it’ll take a while to know when it’s alright to do that in social situations. Your boys will grow up to be successful men. It will be a wonderful surprise to see how everything turns out later on in the future. Autism doesn’t come with a manual It comes with a parent who never gives up. Who they would be when they grow up. Who knows, because Ben scripts, he might be a voice over artist. Thank you for sharing this with me.
