Special buns were for special times ! We didn’t have a lot growing up but we were healthy and happy. I feel the biggest problem now a days is trying to have everything in your life but still not being happy with your life !!!! My mom got “Day Old Bread” from the bakery. As fast as we went through it, it didn’t matter and was half the cost. We also used it for breakfast. We would toast it, butter it, put sugar (white or brown) on it then added hot milk till it was moist. (used as a replacement for cereal). We called it “Milk Toast”. We had a hobby farm 2 gardens .We canned all our vegetable Froze our zuchini bread froze our corn Potatoes in the cellar There were 8 kids and mom and dad We were never food poir. You forgot pizza- just a tad of spaghetti sauce and grated kraft Parmesan cheese. I didn’t grow up poor but I remember this. We didn’t also do what is now considered PC. We used what was in the house at the time.

Not necessarily poor but this was before freezers and large refrigerator freezer compartments. I’m so blessed to have a man hat does both and still opens the car door for me after 51 years. Love him to the moon and back! I have a man who cooks… a man who cleans… a man who takes me out on fancy dates… I just make sure they all don’t meet… hehe. And I do everything cook,dishes,laundry,sweep, mop, make the bed every day and take care of my 11 month old grandson 10 hours a day and still get everything done. What about the man who makes beds, vacuums the carpets, changes the kitty litter, and takes out the garbage… where does he rate ? So IF I do both, then I’m “Attractively Irresistable?” Cool. I have done all these things when married , took kids where they needed to be, worked 50 hours most weeks, kept up 6 acres of lawn and large vegetable gardens and was not enough. I still do it all around my house since divorced 7 years.
