Food-baby or baby-baby ?! today! Tomorrow is our first official ultrasound with my midwife. We cannot wait to see this little nugget and hear his/her heartbeat! We went to a ultrasound place to get confirmation at 6 weeks pregnant bc I felt like I couldn’t wait any longer. Lol Everything looked great! I began bleeding (super mild – not too concerning) end of week 6 through 8 weeks. I had mild cramps, too. I’ve been eager to hear this kiddos heart beat and know all is well & it seemed like my doc appointment was so far away so I tried finding it on a Doppler for reassurance.

Now, I’m a labor and delivery nurse. I know it’s likely way too early to find the heartbeat on the Doppler…so when I couldn’t find the heartbeat the rational me was like “of course not. It’s ok!” But the irrational me was like “GO GET CHECKED OUT.” I didn’t wanna be overly dramatic and call my midwife saying i couldn’t find the heartbeat…she’d be like, “yeah, no kidding!” That’s ABCDEFGHIJKLMNO Heartbeat NUSERS shirt. So I went back to the ultrasound place for reassurance from the ultrasound tech. We got there & she wasn’t able to pick up the heart beat or see the baby.

My only hope is that the reason she wasn’t able to find it is because she goes on the belly and at this early stage of pregnancy the baby is best found when the ultrasound is performed vaginally… I’m hoping you guys could send out some positive vibes and prayers for us as we go into our ultrasound appointment with our midwife tomorrow…I’m not bleeding, not cramping so I feel like there is definitely hope. Sending prayers to you all. I had cramping and spotting before and everything was fine. I know you have reason to worry and it is impossible to tell a mom not to but try to stay calm and positive. You guys have a(nother) great blessing coming this year!!!!
